Dual-material QR inlay workflow

Produce premium QR signage with vivid contrast using multi-material systems like Bambu AMS or Prusa MMU, complete with magnet-ready hardware channels.

Printer setup

Use 0.2 mm layer height, 0.4 mm nozzle, 215°C nozzle temperature for PLA, 60°C bed. Enable wipe to infill where available to minimize purge waste. Set collision avoidance mode to prevent nozzle interference with posted voxel walls.

Assembly steps

  1. Split the QR model

Use the generator to export separate STLs for the base plate and voxel inlay. Import both bodies into your slicer and assign distinct materials.

  2. Align magnet channels

Enable modifier meshes for magnet slots or threaded inserts, ensuring a 0.1 mm tolerance for press-fit hardware.

  3. Configure material swaps

For AMS/MMU workflows, purge to a tower at least 30 mm^3 to avoid color contamination. Set wiping volume to 90% for PLA, 110% for PETG.

  4. Finish and assemble

Insert magnets or hardware post-print, then apply a matte clear coat. Validate adhesion strength and scan response before deployment.

Quality checklist

  • Inspect purge tower for color bleeding and adjust purge volume if needed.
  • Measure magnet slot tolerances before assembly; sand lightly if interference exceeds 0.05 mm.
  • Scan after assembly to confirm contrast remains high despite hardware insertion.
